Hey guys & gals. We’ll be back and better than every Thursday morning at 8AM CST with a great show about technology in drums & music. Tune in and catch the live feed & chat room!
Dave is sick today and thus there is no new show, but please enjoy this tasty treat from the archives. This show originally aired April 26, 2006.

Today we talk all about drumline and things you need to get started in drumline/corps style playing. Also, Paul Skidmore joins us in house and talks about being a drumline instructor. Show Notes
Sadly, there will be no new DrummerTalk this week as Dave is very sick. Normally I (Carter, the Prodigal Son of Whipping Boy Co-Host) would be hosting the show in Dave’s stead, but he also has the keys to his office!! D’oh!
Never fear though, faithful listeners! We’ll be back in full force next week! Until then…
Today, Dave and the crew talk about the the bad habits of good drummers. We got news, the double paradiddle is the rudiment of the week, and Art Blakey is the drummer of the week. Show Notes
I’m gonna be totally honest and say I had never heard of Randy Van Patten before I rented this DVD and I have a feeling you might not know who he is either. He’s a working drummer with a lots of years under his belt and has drummed for lots of people in his time. In other words he’s the kind of drummer we aspire to be like but didn’t realize it when we started. When people say they want to be a studio or a session drummer they often have guys like Steve Gadd in mind, but not everyone can achieve Steve’s level of standing in the music industry. Most studio and session drummers are more like Randy. One of many working drummers who’ve landed some big gigs but never achieved the notoriety of the drum gods. Not glamorous but if they went missing it would put the music industry into cardiac arrest. You can get the specifics on everything Randy at www.vanzdrumming.com. (more…)
We uncover the tangled history between the world’s two largest cymbal makers: Zildjian and Sabian, complete with an interview with Andy Ziljdian! The double stroke roll is the rudiment of the week, Manu Katché is the drummer of the week, and we talk about Roland’s new gear in the news. Oh, and Carter is ENGAGED!! Show Notes
Due to technical issues, we’re unable to go live this week; however, get your DT fix with a blast from the past. This episode originally aired February 22, 2006.

We try something new today, for the first time we have drummer talk and drummer lunch at the same time. We spend the entire time conversing about Jay Graham’s letter about keeping time, playing other people’s kit, and increasing hand speed.
Hey guys. As you’re probably guessed, we did not do a show this morning. We had some severe internet connection issues with Dave’s computer and he couldn’t get to any of his information on the show. We’ll throw a rerun up today and will (hopefully) be back in full force next week with a show about the Zildjian/Sabian splito. Very sorry for the lack of show. Hope you all understand. If there’s anything we’ve learned from this incident its..
It's great to be able to hold a groove, because some things call for simplicity...... There is a time and place for everything. You have to use your intuition to know when to do something and when not to.
