This just in:... Meinl announces the Derek Roddy series of Blast Beat Cymbal sleeves. These sleeves are made with hand picked nylon, and are individually crafted in our factories in Germany by our "sleeve-oligist" Klaus. Sleeves are "pitch matched" and then packaged in groups of 4. Each group will have two "crash" sleeves (12" & 16") and two "ride" sleeves (18" & 22"). Individual sleeves can be special ordered from the factory. They will protect your Meinl cymbals from the ravages of the inferior metal cymbal stands you are likely using now. Packages start at $22.50

I'd rather buy a Black Swamp tambourine for this price. Crazy. Tune in next week when Meinl reveals the extra dry triangle. It's made of wood.

Hammered brass would be darker and dryer than, say, regular nickel or silver jingles. But, those slots are way too large and would allow too much jingle movement to be considered "dry." And the triangle shape is a gimmick. Would have no effect on the "dry" aspect.

I see and hear their cymbals and I just can't take them seriously. These other products do nothing to boost my confidence. Guess I'll stay with Sabian. :)
