Ludwig Presents the Liverpool 4 Drum Kit
If you’re in the mood for some vintage gear, or gear that certainly appears vintage, this will be right up your alley. Ludwig has announced they are adding onto their Legacy line with a rendition of the kit Ringo Starr played on The Beatles’ groundbreaking Ed Sullivan Show appearance in 1964. Looks pretty nice to me. The only real news here is that Ludwig is releasing the Black Oyster Pearl finish with the Legacy line. I’m not gonna break the bank to get this kit, though.

Ludwig’s Black Oyster Pearl drum finish made a well-televised debut on the Ed Sullivan Show with Ringo Starr and started a phenomenon. In the spirit of the original “Ringo Kit”, Ludwig is proud to present the Liverpool 4 in Original Black Oyster Pearl finish.
The Liverpool 4 hosts the configuration and 3-ply shell heard most on the timeless recordings of yesterday, and is the first Legacy kit to feature standard-sized Classic lugs along with a new Rail Consolette tom mount. The first 100 sets will feature Ludwig’s 100th Anniversary badge on each drum, making them another benchmark in the classic Ludwig timeline. MSRP on the drums is $4285, stands not included.
“Ludwig drums have been the industry standard since 1909 and the tradition and quality continues on today better than ever with a sound that could only be Ludwig”, said Kevin Packard, Director of Marketing, Combo Percussion.

I believe Ludwig tried to get Ringo Starr to sign these kits but they missed his deadline and be put them all in the bin.
Peace & love! Peace & love!

(By the way ‘bin’ is British-speak for ‘trash’)

I have a set of collector’s Ludwig Ringo Starr black oyster pearl drums that were #42 of 45 made in 2002. I still have the original cardboard boxes that came with the set, each box having #42 printed on the side. Kit includes 2 cymbal stands, snare stand, hi-hat stand and Speed King bass drum pedal. They are in excellent condition and have been played very little. They look exactly like the above picture. Is there anyone who would be interested in purchasing them or who could help me sell them? They belonged to my husband who passed asway in June, 2009.

Quick Question …
Where is Ringo´s original Drum Kit that he played on the Ed Sullivan Show?
And what is the story behind it?
Thanks in advance for your response.
