We finally finish part 2 of Custom Drums from A-Z(ed) with Bryan Rumfola. Plus we talk all about bass drum drum head choices and the many options for you and the Pearl Reference reference returns. Oh, and Steve Gadd swings by for a visit!! (P.S. I know the sound is a little peak-ish on this episode and the background music is a bit loud but please bear with us. It was a crazy sound night last night.)
Note: part I can be found here.

READ MOREBack when the Pearl Reference (cue the accordian) kit was released, we on Drummer Talk surmised that it was not a viable option for the gigging/touring drummer solely because of the sheer weight of the drums and hardware. Well... three and a half years later, Pearl has put it's money where it's mouth is and proved us wrong. Kinda... Check out how after the jump.

Alright then, this is the Sonor Giant Step Middle Pedal... which is a really long name to type out so I'm gonna abbreviate it as GSMP. This was the last pedal I used before I sold my drum-set for reasons I shall not disclose. The Giant Step series is Sonor's high end line of pedals and all share some basic features. Most of which I appreciate, one of which I wish they would have made ...

Matt Ritter is just your average drummer. Outside of having his own dvd, the chances are that you've never heard of him... and probably never will. I've just got to say flat out that I don't like his playing from a musical stand point... it's flat and boring IMHO. He (thankfully) doesn't play that much in the video, it's pretty much all business once you get past the intro.
I think that Mr. Ritter is the ...

This dvd is kind odd in the sense that it accomplishes two very distinct goals as opposed to one vague one. The first dvd in the set is like a clinic with general drum technique in mind. The second one is like a themed showcase concert, the theme being the history and development of the U.S. beat. I'm extremely satisfied with the set as a whole but the second dvd is the thing that makes ...
