NAMM COVERAGE: Pearl Releases Jingle Cajon

January 21, 2009 in Artists, Events, Gear, News, Videos by Carter

More from Pearl’s showcase at NAMM in Anaheim, CA. They’ve released a Jingle Cajon as part of their onslaught of gear. Looks pretty interesting to me. I like how this instrument sounds in my head. Looking forward to getting my hands on one. Cool video at Pearl’s website.

Designed in conjunction with L.A. session percussionist Pete Korpela, Pearl’s new Jingle Cajon offers four different sound possibilities in one package. The fiberglass body adds superior strength, and the super responsive snare system offers sensitivity unmatched by other brands. Simply twist open the Brazilian Platinella-style jingles and a new world of sonic options open up, as you instantly sound like two percussionists playing simultaneously. Open up the Stainless Steel tambourine jingles for a whole other jingle option, or combine the two to sound like an entire percussion section. Beautifully finished in our exclusive Carubinga exotic wood finish, Pearl’s Jingle Cajon will surely open your eyes and ears to an arsenal of sound never thought possible from a single Cajon.

The good folks at Pearl have released another innovative piece of gear. I've seen guys use auxiliary percussion in a kit setting before. Former cast member Ian "The Whipping Boy" McClellan used a djembe as a snare with congas as his toms once. But this is taking it to another level. Doesn't look like the popcorn snare comes with it, but if you put all this together, you would definitely have a hip setup. From Harmony-Central.net If ...

With Winter NAMM 2009 (National Association of Music Merchants) happening this month in Anaheim, CA, we can expect drum and cymbal companies releasing loads of new products. Pearl got into the game with their release of the new Demon Drive Pedal. Check out the video on Pearl's website. Almost has me convinced to drop the cash on it. Looks to me like they've improved on the design of Gibraltar's Catapult pedal. The direct link system they've ...

First things first. This review would not have been possible without the guys at Fork's Drum Closet allowing me to occupy their practice room, tool around with a VERY expensive piece of equipment, and have access their wi-fi so I could do some background research on this pedal. They are supporting drummer-talk and the review monkey by allowing me review their gear so do me a favor and if my review is what convinces you ...

For the upcoming tour with his new supergroup, Chickenfoot, Chad Smith is pulling out all the stops. He's been known to go over the top in kit design before, a couple times. This time around is no exception. Smith's teamed up with Orange County Chopper motorcycle artist Nub. No... that's really his name. The kit looks pretty flippin' sweet. Not a bad design. Check it our here.
