Dave Matthews Band Sax Player Dies
A sad day in music…

From www.dmband.com:
We are deeply saddened that LeRoi Moore, saxophonist and founding member of Dave Matthews Band, died unexpectedly Tuesday afternoon, August 19, 2008, at Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center in Los Angeles from sudden complications stemming from his June ATV accident on his farm near Charlottesville, Virginia. LeRoi had recently returned to his Los Angeles home to begin an intensive physical rehabilitation program.
A sad day for me personally. I was and remain a huge fan of these guys since high school. Moore was a central figure in the band and was actually the one responsible for coming up with the name “Dave Matthews Band.” No word yet on whether the band will continue touring with Bela Fleck and the Flecktone’s saxophonist Jeff Coffin, who had been sitting in for Moore during his rehabilitation. I personally can’t imagine the band with LeRoi. Sad day, indeed.

A very sad day indeed. My thoughts go out to the Moore family and all the members of DMB. I too can’t really imagine DMB without Leroi, though I have to wonder whether Jeff Coffin will replace him…
